The Upper School Building Is Open—But the Vision Is Not Complete
The new Upper School building is open, alive with learning, and already transforming the Browning experience. But now, we must do more than celebrate its opening—we must ensure its future. Opening the building on time was an extraordinary achievement. By continuing to give to the building, you are helping to secure Browning’s future: by ensuring that these bold spaces are protected, supported and sustained for generations to come.
Continuing to support this project now helps reduce our school's financial constraints, allowing us to direct more resources to what matters most: our boys, our teachers, and the programs that define the Browning experience.
A K-8 Building Supporting the Arc of Childhood
Now a dedicated K–8 campus, 52 E. 62nd Street begins an exciting new chapter—one that is designed specifically for how boys learn, grow, and connect throughout the arc of childhood.
This shift is not simply a change in occupancy—it’s a transformation in purpose. Over time, the building will evolve thoughtfully and responsively, shaped by how students interact with the spaces around them. As younger boys grow into areas once occupied by Upper School students, we will learn from their movement, curiosity, and collaboration—using that insight to reimagine the environment in ways that serve them best.

Curriculum Development Grants
To keep our academic program innovative and responsive, annual Curriculum Development Grants support our talented faculty in designing new courses that reflect our mission and engage students more deeply, foster creativity, and prepare boys to think critically about the world around them.
Collaborative Learning Cohort
Our Curriculum Leadership Collaborative (CLC), empowers faculty to work together across disciplines to develop cohesive, integrated programs. By fostering collaboration, the CLC ensures that our Core Four skills academic standards, and school values are consistently woven throughout students’ experiences from grade to grade.
Providing targeted professional development opportunities for faculty allows them to support boys' learning with innovative practices and challenging curriculum.

Programs
Center for Purposeful Boyhood
At a time when boys and men face profound challenges—from loneliness to declining educational outcomes—Browning is leading with courage and clarity. Building on our strength in the examination of masculinity through our curriculum and co-curricular activities, we are launching The Center for Boys’ Excellence, a bold hub for research, professional development, and thought leadership. This initiative will not only shape Browning boys, but also influence schools and families worldwide, reframing what it means to raise men of intellect and integrity.
Key Initiatives:
- Action Research: Faculty-led studies to generate and share best practices in teaching boys.
- Faculty & Scholar Development: Expanded opportunities for Browning educators and visiting scholars to deepen expertise.
- Partnerships & Publications: Collaborations with leading institutes and position papers offering practical guidance for educators and parents.
The EPSI Forum
The EPSI Forum is a program designed to deepen schoolwide engagement with the cultural heritage months/days celebrated at Browning. Each Forum includes curated, developmentally appropriate programming (e.g., speakers, workshops, or performances) that invites students and families across all divisions to reflect on identity, equity, and pluralism. Topics rotate annually and are coordinated with faculty and student groups to ensure relevance and inclusion. Endowing this program would provide support for honoraria, materials, and logistical coordination as well as a year-over-year strategy to ensure the best possible outcomes for our students. The Forum complements ongoing activities by offering more structured, dialogic experiences and helps signal our values of honesty, curiosity, dignity, and purpose in visible, meaningful ways to both students and families.
Speech and Language Specialist Support
In the wake of COVID, more Lower School students require specialized speech and language support, yet families often face challenges finding and scheduling these services, which can also be costly. By adding a consulting speech and language pathologist, we can offer families a smoother, more accessible experience and ensure all students receive the support they need while in school. This addition will help learning specialists and faculty work more effectively within the curriculum, while promoting greater equity in access to essential speech and language services.
First Lego League
This program will help our youngest boys learn the basics of STEM and apply their skills in an exciting competition while building habits of learning, confidence, and teamwork skills to prepare them for robotics in Middle and Upper School. This after school learning opportunity requires expert coaching, program coordinator and materials to prepare students for competitive nationwide showcases.
Learning Beyond the Red Doors
Overnight trips are essential extensions of our academic program, offering boys the chance to deepen their learning, build independence, and form lasting bonds with peers and faculty. These trips bring classroom lessons to life and cultivate intellectual curiosity, personal growth, and a sense of purpose. A dedicated endowment will ensure that all Middle and Upper School students can participate fully in these transformative opportunities, while enabling faculty to develop additional mission-aligned trip concepts that reflect the evolving curriculum and deepen Browning’s commitment to experiential education.
Global Studies Program in the Upper School / Round Square
Becoming a Round Square school would provide students with opportunities to participate in international student exchange programs, conferences, and service learning projects so that they can immerse themselves in different cultures, experiences, viewpoints and educational systems, gaining a truly global perspective. This programming would dovetail nicely with our existing social impact initiatives. In addition to transformative learning experiences for the boys, membership offers professional growth and leadership experiences for faculty.
Funding would be needed for the membership, faculty and travel costs.
The Dignity of Dialogue
The skill of constructive dialogue is connected to our four core values of curiosity, dignity, honesty and purpose. When boys learn to be curious about how to construct logical frameworks for their arguments and listen with dignity to those of others, they further their formation as citizens who can contribute meaningfully to the world. In our 9th and 10th grade years, courses on constructive dialogue are required. This gift would sustain current partnerships with organizations that advance this work, while allowing for the expansion of the program into other divisions.
Financial Aid
Tuition Assistance: Invest in Excellence
Browning’s ability to enroll well-qualified applicants is limited by its annual tuition assistance budget, primarily supported through operating funds. Gifts to the financial assistance program can help Browning attract and enroll the best and brightest students in and around New York City.
While a gift of any amount could prove helpful to those in need of support, your gift of $100,000 or more could create an endowment, which would allow the school to plan for the best way to provide tuition assistance.
